Terms & privacy
The Small Print
The terms for using the guild's free apps, and how they handle your data. Written to be read.
Last updated 28 September 2026
Part 1Terms of Service
The short version
- The apps are free and run as a hobby. They come with no guarantees.
- What you make is yours, and you're responsible for it.
- Storage isn't guaranteed. Keep your own copies of anything you'd hate to lose.
- We're not liable for lost work or any other loss.
- If an app closes, you'll get at least 30 days' notice to save your work.
1. About these terms
These terms cover Homebrew Libram, PC on Parchment, Plot and Weave and Torch & Turn (the "apps"), and this website. They're run by Appwrights Guild ("we"), a hobby project run by one person in the United Kingdom.
By creating an account or using an app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the apps.
2. Free, and a hobby
The apps are free: no ads and no subscriptions. They're a hobby, not a business, and there's no promise about how long any of them will keep running.
3. Your account
- You must be 13 or over to create an account.
- One account signs you into Homebrew Libram, PC on Parchment and Plot and Weave.
- Use an email address you can receive mail at. It's how we reach you, including if an app is closing.
- Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
4. What you make stays yours
You keep ownership of everything you create in the apps. By putting it there, you give us permission to store it, show it to you, process it so the apps work (including sending it to an AI service when you use an AI feature, as described in the Privacy Policy), and show it to other people where you choose to share it.
That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies that linger briefly in backups.
5. Your responsibilities
You're responsible for everything you upload, store and share. Please don't use the apps to:
- share material you don't have the right to share, such as text or artwork copied from published books;
- store or share anything illegal, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit;
- share other people's personal details without their permission;
- upload anything harmful, or try to break, overload or get around the apps' security or usage limits;
- misuse the AI features, or access the apps with automated tools.
6. Copyright and takedowns
We don't check or approve what people store or share in the apps, and we're not responsible for it. Whoever uploads something is responsible for having the right to it.
If you believe something shared through one of the apps infringes your copyright, or is otherwise unlawful, email hello@appwrightsguild.com with a link to it and an explanation. We'll look at it promptly and remove it where appropriate. We may remove content, or suspend accounts, that break these terms, and close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
The apps are unofficial, fan-made tools. They're not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast, and Dungeons & Dragons is their trademark. Official books belong to their publishers: keep anything you copy from them for your own use, and don't share it publicly.
7. No guarantee of storage or availability
The apps are provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep them running and your data safe, but we can't promise:
- that any app will always be available, fast or free of errors;
- that anything you store will be kept, or kept intact;
- that features won't change or be removed.
The apps are not a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything you'd be upset to lose. You can print from Homebrew Libram, PC on Parchment and Plot and Weave, and you can email us for a copy of your data.
8. If an app changes or closes
We may change, pause or close any app or feature. If we decide to close an app, or delete what's stored in it, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email to the address on your account and in the app itself, so you have time to save your work.
The exception is when we're required to act sooner: for example, removing something after a valid copyright complaint, or dealing with a legal or security problem. In those cases we'll give as much notice as we reasonably can.
9. Liability
As far as the law allows, we're not liable for any loss or damage arising from using the apps, or from being unable to use them. That includes lost or damaged content, lost time or effort, and any indirect loss.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using the apps and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, or that puts the apps or other people at risk.
11. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the apps or by email. Carrying on using the apps after a change means you accept it.
12. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.

Part 2Privacy Policy
The short version
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising. Your data is never sold.
- One account covers Homebrew Libram, PC on Parchment and Plot and Weave. It holds your email address and whatever you choose to make.
- What you make is private until you choose to share it.
- A few features use an AI service to do their job. They only run when you use them.
- You can have a copy of your data, change it or delete it.
1. Who we are
Appwrights Guild is a hobby project run by one person in the United Kingdom, making free tools for tabletop roleplaying games. Under UK data protection law, Appwrights Guild is the controller of the personal data described here.
Contact: hello@appwrightsguild.com
2. What this policy covers
- appwrightsguild.com, this website.
- Homebrew Libram (homebrewlibram.com), PC on Parchment (pconparchment.com) and Plot and Weave (plotandweave.com). These three share one account.
- Torch & Turn (torchandturn.com), which has no accounts at all.
3. What we collect, and why
Your account. Your email address and password (stored scrambled by our database provider; nobody can read it back, including us). We also store two small preferences: whether you'd like occasional emails about the apps, and which "what's new" notes you've already seen. We use your email to sign you in, to help if you forget your password, and to tell you about anything that affects your account, including notice if an app is closing.
What you make.
- Homebrew Libram: your entries (items, spells, creatures, character options, tables) and any images you add to them.
- PC on Parchment: your characters, including notes, backstory and portraits.
- Plot and Weave: your campaigns, sessions, beats, the people and places in them, notes, images and recaps.
We store this so the apps work. We don't read it or use it for anything else, unless we have to deal with a report of abuse or a legal problem.
AI usage records. When you use an AI feature we note which account used which feature, and when, so the free AI features stay fair for everyone.
"Roll me a character" (PC on Parchment, no account needed). To limit how many free characters one person can roll in a day, we keep a scrambled version of your IP address, made with a secret key so it can't be turned back into the address. It is deleted after 30 days.
Torch & Turn. The character name you type, the details of the fight (names, hit points, conditions, turn order) and, if you switch on turn alerts, your browser's notification subscription. Everything in a session is deleted 24 hours after the session is created.
Security records. Our hosting and sign-in providers keep standard logs, including IP addresses, for a short time. We look at sign-in records only to keep accounts secure and to spot abuse.
This website collects nothing. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
4. What other people can see
Everything you make is private to your account until you choose to share it. Anyone with a link or code you share can see what it shows, without an account:
- Homebrew Libram share links show a single entry or your whole library. A whole-library link leaves out entries marked DM-only. A link to one entry shows that entry even if it's marked DM-only (the app warns you when you create it).
- PC on Parchment share links show a read-only copy of the character sheet, without your notes, campaign links or portrait.
- Plot and Weave's player page shows the campaign's name, the recaps you've published and the session names. Your beats, drafts and prep stay private. You can change the campaign's player code at any time.
- Images added to Libram entries and Plot and Weave beats are stored at unlisted web addresses. Anyone who has an image's exact address can open it. PC on Parchment portraits and note images are private to you.
- Torch & Turn rooms are for sharing at the table. Treat anything typed into a room as visible to others, and use a character's name rather than a real one.
You can stop sharing from inside each app.
5. Between the three apps
- One account, with the same email and password, signs you into Homebrew Libram, PC on Parchment and Plot and Weave.
- If you connect your Libram to PC on Parchment or Plot and Weave, that app can read your own Libram entries so you can bring them in.
- If a player links a character to a Plot and Weave campaign using its player code, the DM sees the character's name and when the player last looked. The player's sheet receives the campaign's published recaps and any private notes the DM sends to that character. The player can unlink at any time, and the DM can withdraw a note.
6. AI features
Some features use an AI service to do their job. They only run when you use them, and only what the feature needs is sent:
- Homebrew Libram import: the images or documents you add to be read.
- PC on Parchment "Roll me a character": the class, species, background and name, to write a short description.
- Plot and Weave recap drafting: the campaign's name, the session's number, title and date, the previous session's recap, and for each beat you choose, its title and player summary, or its text if it has no summary. The draft comes back to you to edit, and nothing reaches your players until you publish it.
These requests go through OpenRouter to Google's Gemini model, or for recaps to Anthropic's Claude model with Gemini as a backup. These models may be run by Google, Anthropic, Amazon or Microsoft.
7. Who else handles your data
- Supabase: our database, accounts, file storage and account emails. The three linked apps are stored in Frankfurt, Germany; Torch & Turn in London.
- Vercel: hosts the websites and the small server functions that talk to the AI service.
- OpenRouter, and the companies that run the AI models (Google, Anthropic, Amazon or Microsoft): only for the AI features above.
- Apple, Google or Mozilla: deliver Torch & Turn turn alerts to your browser, if you switch them on.
- Your browser's speech service: if you use dictation in PC on Parchment, your browser (for example Safari or Chrome) turns your speech into text under its own terms. We only receive the text.
Some of these companies are based in the US. Where your data leaves the UK, it's protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK–US data bridge or approved contract terms. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
8. What's kept in your browser
We use no cookies. The apps use your browser's own storage to:
- keep you signed in;
- remember settings you choose, such as dice, sounds, theme, text size and skins;
- hold a character you've rolled until you keep it, and your recent dice rolls;
- hold changes you make in Plot and Weave without a signal, until they can be saved;
- remember small things like messages you've dismissed, and Torch & Turn's rejoin link.
None of this tracks you, which is why there's no cookie banner. It stays on your device; clearing your browser's data for the site removes it. On a shared computer, sign out and clear the site's data when you're done.
9. Our legal reasons
- Running the apps you've signed up for (contract): your account, what you make, sharing and the AI features you choose to use.
- Keeping things secure and fair (legitimate interests): security records, AI usage records, the "Roll me a character" limit, and dealing with complaints.
- Occasional emails about the apps (consent): only if you ask for them. Change your mind at any time on your account page in Homebrew Libram or PC on Parchment, or by emailing us.
10. How long we keep it
- Your account and what you make: until you delete them. Deleting your account removes it, and everything you've made, from all three linked apps.
- Torch & Turn sessions: 24 hours.
- "Roll me a character" records: 30 days.
- AI usage records: for as long as your account exists.
- Security logs: a short time, set by our providers.
Deleted data can linger in our providers' backups for a short while before it's overwritten.
11. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, ask us to stop or limit using it, and take it elsewhere. Much of this you can do inside the apps; for anything else, email hello@appwrightsguild.com and we'll reply within a month.
12. Children
Accounts are for people aged 13 or over. Torch & Turn has no accounts and asks for nothing but a character name.
13. If an app closes
If we close an app, or delete what's stored in it, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email to the address on your account and in the app itself, so you have time to save your work. After that, its data is deleted.
The exception is when we're required to act sooner: for example, removing something after a valid copyright complaint, or dealing with a legal or security problem. Our Terms say more.
14. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the apps or by email.
